At Tenity, Jorden leads Web3 initiatives, driving innovation through strategic leadership and technical expertise. He collaborates across teams, turning complex concepts into actionable strategies, and uses blockchain technology to empower individuals and businesses.
For founders, a major challenge is finding venture capital (VC) funding and investors in their relevant niche or industry. For instance, if you’re in web3, it’s often best to work with VCs that have experience, expertise, and interest in this space.
I’m the accelerator program manager at Tenity. I lead web3 programs in Singapore and help web3 startups grow both in their ideation phase and scaling stage.
In this guide, I share some of the top web3 investors and VCs out there in 2024. I’ll cover:
At Tenity, we run accelerator programmes with substantial grants for web3 startups in the fintech space. Read on to find out more about what we do, or get in touch with us.
At Tenity, we’re a global innovation system and early stage investor focused on fintech and financial services. Since we launched as part of SIX, the Swiss Stock Exchange, in 2016, we’ve been running accelerator programmes, enabling early-stage investment, and facilitating collaboration between startups and corporates within our ecosystem.
In 2023, we closed 41 deals with pre-seed fintechs, making us one of the most active pre-seed investors in the industry globally. We primarily work with early-stage startups—whether you’re at pre-revenue or ideation stage or you already have a prototype.
But as a startup, it’s not just Tenity you’ll work with during our programmes. Over the years, we’ve run over 100 successful collaborations, including in the web3 space.
To access our funding, you’ll need to participate in one of our accelerators or incubators. While each accelerator differs, you can typically access grants of $50,000 or investments of up to $100,000, in exchange for 2.5% equity.
Plus, during the accelerators, which we host across Europe and Asia, you’ll have access to:
In the web3 space, we’ve already run accelerator programmes for startups working with Klaytn and Ripple. Our future programmes include:
You can find out more details about how our programmes work below. But first, here are some other options for web3 VC funds and investors.
Based in London, Outlier Ventures is a well-known platform for web3 accelerators that supports founders to grow their startups. It primarily works with technology companies solving problems in decentralised finance (DeFi), AI, cryptocurrency, Ethereum, blockchain technology, and Open MetaVerse.
Like Tenity, Outlier Ventures is not just about funding. Instead, you’ll need to participate in one of their accelerator programmes to access the venture capital.
The Base Camp Accelerator programme, for instance, lasts for three months. You’ll learn about token design, tech stack selection, and fundraising. And in exchange for funding, Outlier will take 6% in equity.
Blockchain Founders Fund invests in pre-seed and early-stage entrepreneurs working in web3, blockchain, smart contracts and other emerging technologies. This is primarily an option for startups that don’t want to participate in an accelerator.
Something the Blockchain Founders Fund does offer is a “venture builder” programme. This teaches you how to raise capital, develop your business, your content, and your product, find strategic partnerships, and more.
Something to be aware of is that the Blockchain Founders Fund is based in Singapore. This makes it a better opportunity if you’re based in Asia. However, startups based in other geographies should be aware that the Fund has less of a global reach than other options.
Web3 Capital is a web3 specialist that runs accelerators and provides VC and late-stage capital investment. Its aim is to provide support to startups at all stages of their project, product, or business development.
The Web3 Venture Accelerator is the most interesting programme that Web3 Capital offers. It’s focused on blockchain companies and decentralised technologies, and it provides:
Web3 Capital does not publicly share how much funding is available. So, you’ll need to get in touch to find out.
Active since 2013, Yellow Capital provides a VC seed programme specifically for early-stage startups in the web3, blockchain, Solana, DeFi, gaming, metaverse, and NFT spaces.
Alongside early-stage funding, startups who work with Yellow Capital receive training in legal, technical, and marketing support. Plus, you also get to join a well-established global blockchain community, which may be able to offer assistance and opportunities in future.
For altcoin startups in particular, Yellow Capital can also help to create a market for your coin through their partnerships with exchanges such as Binance and CoinBase. If this is relevant to you, it can be a very useful opportunity.
Contact Yellow Capital directly to pitch your ideas and apply for funding.
Paradigm is a web3 venture capital fund specialising in web3 and crypto. It’s based in San Francisco, California and works primarily with local and US-based startups.
When it comes to the kinds of projects it invests in, Paradigm doesn’t limit itself to a particular type. Instead, it supports projects from pre-seed conceptual stages all the way to their becoming established growth companies.
Paradigm also prides itself on being “research-driven” and having a “deeply hands-on approach”. It’s willing to invest between $1 million and $100 million.
Multicoin Capital has the reputation for being a leading investment firm in the web3 space. It focuses on blockchain, crypto, and token startups, particularly those that are believed to have the potential to disrupt trillion-dollar industries.
Multicoin claims to be “thesis driven”. So, the investments they make are based on the firm’s vision of the future of technology and the internet. For instance, an important factor for Multicoin is about allowing consumers to own their own data. If this is what you’re working on as a startup, you may be a good fit.
Brinc has a web3 programme called ZK Advancer. It specifically aims to support blockchain-based adoption in culture and the arts, entertainment, gaming, financial services, and DeFi.
Its accelerator programme involves a curriculum of support with everything from building a customer persona to developing a fundraising strategy. These programmes are entirely remote, but Brinc primarily works with startups operating in China, Japan, Singapore, India, the Middle East, and North America.
Typically, successful applicants receive $250k in funding, in return for equity as well as an operational fee.
While it may be based in Germany, the Blockchain Founders Group is open to startups from over 70 countries. It’s also available to everyone from pre-seed startups up to those working on an MVP.
Each cohort for the Group’s accelerators includes 10 to 15 startups. Out of that total number, only 5 to 7 receive financial support. The total funding available for each startup is $120k.
Alongside the funding, you’ll gain access to a large network of blockchain experts, crypto enthusiasts, lawyers, founders, and other players who can help you in your journey to growth.
You’ll now know that, at Tenity, we’re a VC firm, startup accelerator, and global innovation system focused on fintech. So, eligible startups with potential can receive funding, but you’ll also get access to a wide fintech community as well as the expertise to grow globally.
Here are three reasons why you should apply to one of Tenity’s accelerators.
Over the years, we’ve distributed over $380 million in funding to over 300 alumni. To provide the right resources for your startup, the funding you receive will depend on your growth stage.
For instance, if you’re a cofounder looking to launch, we have a dedicated pre-seed programme. During this accelerator, we provide $70,000 in exchange for 2.5% in equity.
Alternatively, for startups that have already launched, you can access equity-free programmes. During these programmes, alongside receiving funding, you’ll partner with enterprise-level firms, so you can form innovative partnerships and speed up collaboration.
Find out more about the funding you can receive through Tenity.
For our accelerators, we regularly partner with large web3 companies, such as XRPL , IOTA and XDC
Established brands such as these are continually looking for startups to work with, to solve their innovation challenges and to build new use cases for their products. In return, startups like yours can benefit from these brands’ expertise, resources, and in some cases funding.
Through all our programmes, you’ll receive web3-specific expertise and learn directly from the industry’s major players, so you can build on their deep experience. Plus, throughout these accelerators, you’ll have the chance to learn from mentors and other peers too.
Plus, Tenity's programmes are an opportunity to build globally. While we run specific, location-based accelerators, we have a global network of hubs that you can build from across Europe and Asia, including in Switzerland, Spain, the Baltics, and Singapore.
Aside from providing funding and contacts, our accelerator programmes teach you everything you need to learn to succeed as a startup in fintech.
For our web3 founders, we hold industry-specific masterclasses and workshops, as well as sessions focused on more general insights and trends. For instance, you’ll work through intensive, tailored sessions on product-market fit, user adoption, sales, and much, much more.
Throughout the programmes, you’ll benefit from our specialist knowledge in the fintech industry. Since we spun out of SIX, the Swiss Stock Exchange, we’ve worked with corporates such as UBS, Generali, Julius Baer, and more. You won’t find such deep knowledge of the finance industry and being a founder anywhere else.
Example of XRPL program
For an example of an impressive startup that’s benefited from Tenity’s programmes, you don’t need to look any further than Keyrock.
The trading platform for digital assets has achieved rapid growth since participating in our web3 accelerator. In 2022, for instance, they received $72 million in Series B funding.
Today, Keyrock facilitates 550k+ daily trades and integrates with 85+ exchanges. Plus, it trades in 1,300+ markets across 36 different countries.
Now, Keyrock is running accelerators of its own. For one, the accelerator it ran with us at Tenity received 198 applications from 36 countries. And at the end of the programme they invested $100k in another startup, Fija Finance.
Work with us at Tenity and you could see similar levels of growth. It’s not just the VC funding that’s useful, but the network, learning, and mentoring too.
